A wedding scheduled for next month has reportedly been called off after both families disagreed over additional traditional marriage requirements and money.
“A lady in my church is supposed to get married next month, but Omo, the wedding has already been cancelled.
Everyone in church has been looking forward to the wedding. The couple have been together for years, and preparations were already in full swing. Clothes had been sorted, plans were being made, and people were already getting ready for the big day.
Then yesterday, we heard that the wedding had been called off.
At first, nobody knew what happened. People were calling each other and asking questions, but both families were keeping quiet.
Later, we heard that the problem started during a meeting between both families. The bride's family allegedly brought up some additional traditional marriage requirements they wanted the groom to meet.
The groom reportedly said he had already fulfilled everything they initially agreed on and couldn't suddenly raise another huge amount of money just a few weeks before the wedding.
The discussion became heated, and neither side was willing to back down.
By evening, the groom's family reportedly decided they were no longer comfortable going ahead with the marriage under those circumstances.
