Pastor Julius Ekweozor has sparked widespread reactions on social media following controversial remarks he made during a sermon about widows and remarriage.
In the sermon, the cleric warned men against entering romantic relationships with widows, claiming that a widow remains spiritually connected to her late husband after his death.
«“No matter how nice a widow is, don’t sleep with her. There is no single widow on earth. Every widow is married,” the pastor said.»
According to Ekweozor, men who become romantically involved with widows without certain traditional or spiritual rites being performed could face spiritual consequences. He further claimed that a spiritual bond remains after a husband's death and must be broken before a widow can remarry.
The pastor also stated that in cases where a young widow wishes to remarry, certain customary or spiritual rituals are necessary to separate her from the bond with her late husband.
