Governor Hope Uzodimma has emerged winner of the Imo West Senatorial District (Orlu Zone) primary election, defeating former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha in a landslide victory.
According to reports, Uzodimma secured a total of 230,464 votes, while Okorocha polled 1,098 votes in the keenly contested primary election.
The outcome of the exercise further strengthens Uzodimma’s political dominance in the Orlu Zone and sets the stage for the forthcoming senatorial election.
Party officials and supporters described the primary as peaceful and transparent, with voting taking place across the district under tight security.
Political observers believe the result marks a significant shift in the political landscape of Imo West, considering the long-standing rivalry between the two political heavyweights.
