Peter Obi may never openly call people to the streets, and history shows why. The fight for a better Nigeria should not depend on one politician alone — citizens must become conscious, organized, and ready to defend their own future.
So, he want Peter Obi to come out and tell people to go into the streets because he was rigged out again? We all know what happened to MKO Abiola after June 12. History has already shown us how dangerous that path can be.
My point is simple: we should not need Peter Obi’s approval before taking action for our own future and survival as citizens. We are not fighting for Peter Obi as an individual; we are fighting for a better Nigeria and for our own future.
If you are waiting for Peter Obi to openly tell people to take to the streets if elections are rigged, then I’m sorry to say you may wait forever, because that is unlikely to happen. No serious politician will openly call for confrontation in a country like Nigeria.
Look at other countries. During the Nepal uprising against their government, the woman who later emerged as leader did not personally ask people to go into the streets before they acted. In 2020, when Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol over what they believed was a stolen election, it was not Trump directly telling them to do so in clear terms before they acted on their convictions.
So I honestly do not understand why some people believe they must wait for Peter Obi to instruct them before knowing what to do as citizens.
Yes, it would be an honour for him to become president, but the reality is that Peter Obi is already a successful and wealthy man. No matter how bad Nigeria becomes, he will still survive comfortably. Ordinary Nigerians are the ones who suffer the most from bad governance.
That is why citizens themselves must become more conscious, organized, and determined about defending their future, instead of waiting for one man to carry the entire burden alone.
