Real change in Nigeria will not come from one man alone. If we truly want Peter Obi to win, supporters must go beyond social media and be ready to peacefully protect every vote from the polling units to the collation centres. Democracy works when citizens defend their mandate together.
I always get annoyed anytime I see comments like this. For those of you who always think this way, let it be clear today that it is not Peter Obi that will protect our votes for him. Rather, it is our responsibility as supporters to protect our votes for him, not the other way around, if we truly want change in Nigeria.
Honestly, I get surprised when people keep saying Peter Obi should assure them that he will protect their votes. How exactly do they expect one man to do that alone?
The truth is simple: if we genuinely want Peter Obi to become the next president of Nigeria, then we as supporters must be ready to do our own part. Elections are not only won on social media. They are protected by people who stay alert, remain at their polling units, follow the process to the collation centres, and refuse to allow their votes to be manipulated.
It is also not enough to just record videos of thugs disrupting elections and post them online while complaining afterwards. Citizens who truly desire change must be organized, courageous, and ready to peacefully defend the integrity of their votes.
At the end of the day, democracy works when the people themselves are determined to protect their mandate. So, I believe it is unfair to place the entire responsibility on Peter Obi alone when it should be a collective effort from everyone who believes in the movement.
