The Anambra State Government created the “Sign In and Sign Out” system to identify who comes to work and who doesn’t. But since February when it started, the system has done the opposite of its purpose.
The reality on ground:
1. *The workers showing up daily are the ones losing money.* Every month, deductions are being made from the salaries of active civil servants who report to work.
2. Absentees are walking free with full salary, while those sacrificing to be at work are punished.
3. Their cries since February have been ignored.* No response, no correction.
How do you survive like this in Nigeria’s economy?
- The salary left after deductions is not even enough for daily transportation to work.
- House rent in Nigeria today is something else. With half salary, you cannot save for rent.
- Medical care is out of reach. No civil servant’s pay can cover it.
A family man or woman cannot survive on half a salary. In Nigeria today, even people earning ₦500k monthly are struggling to survive. To make it, you need double income.
Our appeal to Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo (CFR):
1. Hear the cry of your people. They are going through serious difficulty.
2. Stop the deductions from active workers. Focus the system on those who do not come to work.
3. If you cannot increase salaries now, at least give workers room to make extra income to survive.
4. Remember, it is your people who gave you their support and love to become governor. Without them, there is no governor.
They are humans like you. They need money to live, pay rent, feed their families, and access healthcare, just like you do.
Fix the system. Protect the workers who show up. Treat Anambra civil servants right.
