Wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Ogbonna Nwifuru has flagged off the 2023 mass literacy campaign for the purpose to give free second chance education program for some persons that missed out the opportune to study.

2023 Mass Literacy Campaign at the women development center, Abakaliki with a call on Chairmen and Chairpersons of Local Government Areas to ensure monitoring the program and supervision of it, at the grassroots.
Wife of the Governor, said the program is aimed at igniting spark of knowledge, empower individuals with skill acquisition for betterment of their lives and achieve education for all.
She said;
" The purpose of this adult education is to empowers them and give education to better those not opportune to finish out previous education , "Those that got unwanted pregnant, due to shame they decide to dropped out for school and among others due to circumstances, I want to be given them second chance to study into adult education for their betterment in future"
Mrs Nwifuru appreciated her husband Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his administration in the State for the commitment showed so far towards the cause of mass literacy which in turn has prepared a solid ground where education is accessible and affordable to all.
While urging the Commissioner for education to ensure, they help send teachers to all the center in the 13 local government area in order to assist in teaching those in adults education program.
Mrs Nwifuru also explaining that the Mass Literacy program would be devoid of discrimination of any sort called on Council Chairmen, Traditional Rulers and Donor Agencies to partner the Government in prosecuting the education for all program so as to fill the gap of ignorance, enhance economic development, women empowerment and foster civic engagement.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and State Commissioner for Education, Prof Paul Nwaobashi and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Adult Education, Mrs Stella Nwagu thanked the State Governor and his wife for reactivating Adult Education in the State and assured that it would be given adequate attention and go a long way in facilitating all round development of the State.
Mrs Stella Nwagu further commended the wife of the Governor for Celebrated the adult education and for given Ebonyi people opportunity, for those not educated at youth age the second chance to learn.
There were goodwill messages from the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr Uchenna Igwe on behalf of his ministry and Council Chairmen, Dr Boniface Nwofia for NOLGASS and Eze Sunday Oketa on behalf of Traditional Rulers where they expressed their readiness to mobilize support for the program.
The event featured presentation of books to Heads of Departments for taking-off of Adult Education across one hundred and seventy one political wards in the State by wife of the Governor.
