Young Man Confirmed Innocent After Brutal Beating Over False Theft Allegation in Anambra
A man was brutally assaulted by a group of unidentified persons after he was accused of stealing money in Onitsha, Anambra State.
In a video circulating on Facebook, the victim repeatedly swore on the lives of his mother and siblings that he was innocent and had not stolen the money.
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of the Human Rights Defenders (HURIDE), Ebonyi State chapter, Sampson Iko Nweke, said it was later confirmed that the man was innocent.
Condemning the attack, Nweke described the incident as an act of jungle justice, stressing that no one should be subjected to such treatment over an unverified allegation. He urged the victim to seek legal redress and appealed to anyone who knows him to help him obtain justice.
