Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for Okene talk say Kogi dey reward thugs instead of development, and paying salaries no be achievement na minimum duty. She point to Abia say wetin Alex Otti do for less than 2 years — fix roads, hospitals, schools for Aba — Kogi never do am for 10 years, and Otti still dey pay salaries.
"Only thúgs are being rewarded. No development. Paying salaries is not an achievement. Look at what Abia State Governor Alex Otti is doing in his state, yet you are boasting about paying salaries in Kogi. What Alex Otti has done in Abia in less than two years, Kogi has not done in 10 years. That man has changed Aba, he has fixed roads, hospitals, schools, and he is still paying salaries. So what are we celebrating here?"
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken a swipe at the level of governance in Kogi State.
The Kogi Central lawmaker made the remarks while addressing supporters in Okene, where she expressed concern over what she called misplaced priorities.
She said the state has little to show for the massive funds that have accrued to it over the years, adding that rewarding political thugs has taken the place of genuine development.
Akpoti-Uduaghan argued that regular payment of salaries should not be paraded as a landmark achievement because it is the minimum duty of any government.
She pointed to Abia State as a contrasting example, noting that Governor Alex Otti is executing major projects across Aba and other parts of the state — fixing roads, revamping health facilities and schools — while still meeting salary obligations.
According to her, the pace of work in Abia in under two years has outshined what Kogi has managed in a decade.
