A Nigerian woman opened up about how desperate she was to have a child, and the "dark world" she accidentally discovered while searching for solutions:
"I wanted a child so badly that I accidentally discovered a very dark world in Nigeria. When women are desperate to have babies, there are people willing to take advantage of that desperation."
She shared how people gave her all kinds of "solutions" - from pastors asking her to do dry fasting, rub a snail on her body, and pray n@k£d at midnight, to "adoption" offers for ₦4 million with no legal documents.
"They said I would not see the woman giving birth, and I would not see the baby until after delivery... I would have to leave the hospital immediately."
She also talked about another offer: ₦1.2m for a baby + ₦70k for "documents" that never came.
"People know exactly how vulnerable you are, and they can use that vulnerability against you... When people standing outside that desperation ask, 'Why would she believe something like that?' I always think they should wait until they stand inside that desperation."
She also mentioned how society isolates women struggling with inf£t!lity: _"People stop inviting you to birthday parties and other events because society can be very cruel to women struggling with inf£!lity."_
Eventually she stopped and chose to ask for proper legal documentation. That was when things fell apart.
