A Nigerian woman has shared her painful experience working as a domestic worker in Egypt, alleging that she was treated poorly, had her passport seized and lost everything after a serious accident.
"I'm in my early 30s. I travelled in 2016 to Egypt, Cairo, to do a maid job. I worked for seven years and a half. I wasted another one and half years, which made it nine years.
After working for seven years, I had an acc!d£nt, which made me lose everything I worked for. I fell from a nine-storey building.
When we leave Nigeria to go to Arab countries, we're already turned to sl@v£s. The experience is cr@zy. I didn't wish to go, but I came from a very p00r family background.
They usually treat us like sl@v£s, as if we don't have anyone. When you get there, they take our passports and seize it till you finish paying the agent.
My salary then was ₦100k monthly. Sometimes, I sleep on their dog's bed or on the floor. Over the years, I wasn't able to talk to my family until I finished settling the payment. After I did, I found out that my mom was s!ck.
