There was widespread jubilation among supporters of the African Action Congress (AAC) following the emergence of Omoyele Sowore as the party’s presidential candidate after reportedly securing over 500 million votes in the party’s presidential primary election.
Sowore’s victory comes shortly after he resigned from his position as the National Chairman of the AAC, a move many political observers described as strategic ahead of the party’s presidential race.
The former presidential candidate and activist was greeted with cheers and celebration from party faithful and supporters across different parts of the country as news of his emergence spread.
Political analysts have already begun speculating on Sowore’s next move as he prepares for another shot at Nigeria’s highest political office. With this latest emergence, Sowore now appears set to challenge the long-standing record of Atiku Abubakar by becoming one of the most consistent and “evergreen” presidential candidates in Nigeria’s democratic history.
Supporters of the AAC have expressed confidence that Sowore’s candidacy will energize young voters and strengthen the party’s visibility ahead of the general elections.
