Popular businessman and social commentator, Isaac Fayose, has publicly criticized Reno Omokri over his recent comparison of fuel prices and living costs in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
Reacting to Reno Omokri’s comments, Fayose stated that comparing the cost of fuel and basic living expenses in Nigeria to those in the UK shows a lack of proper understanding of the economic realities facing Nigerians.
According to him, while Nigeria’s minimum wage currently stands at about ₦70,000 monthly — which he equated to roughly £35 — the UK minimum wage is around £2,500 monthly, equivalent to nearly ₦5 million when converted to naira.
Fayose questioned the logic behind comparing fuel prices in both countries without considering the huge gap in workers’ earnings and purchasing power.
In his words:
Reno Omokri is not as smart as I thought. Comparing the cost of fuel and shaving in Nigeria to the cost of fuel in the UK is not smart thinking.
“Minimum wage in Nigeria is 70k (£35) per month, while minimum wage in UK is £2500 (5 million) per month. Please what’s the sense in that?
“They don give you ambassador and they don lock your bra!n inside too.”
The statement has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating the country’s economic situation, rising cost of living, and the validity of comparing Nigeria’s economy with that of developed nations like the UK.
