Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has shared an emotional reflection on her journey to success, revealing the hardships she faced while trying to break into the Nigerian movie industry.
In a heartfelt statement, the actress likened her early days in Nollywood to the biblical story of Job, describing a period filled with confusion, rejection, and emotional struggles.
According to her, getting acting roles was extremely difficult at the beginning of her career, leaving her constantly sad and uncertain about her future in the industry.
Kadiri, however, credited fellow Nollywood star Uche Jombo for playing a pivotal role in changing her story. She revealed that Jombo once personally took her to meet a top movie producer and pleaded on her behalf to be considered for acting roles.
That moment marked a turning point, as the producer agreed to give her opportunities. Kadiri added that Jombo continued to recommend her for roles whenever she had the chance, helping her gain visibility and grow in Nollywood.
Today, Ruth Kadiri is widely recognized not only for her talent but also for her commitment to supporting upcoming actors in the industry. Reflecting on her journey, she emphasized the importance of giving back.
“When someone lifts you, lift others,” she said, highlighting the principle that now guides her actions in helping aspiring talents.
Her story has since inspired many fans and young actors, serving as a reminder that success often comes with perseverance, support, and a willingness to help others rise.
