Legendary American rapper Eminem has revealed why he has permanently distanced himself from the Grammy Awards, describing the prestigious music ceremony as “useless” and unfair.
According to the rap icon, he has warned the Recording Academy never to nominate or invite him to the award show again. Eminem accused the Grammys of using famous artists merely to promote their brand, while allegedly handing awards to less popular acts.
“The show is useless. I warned them never to put my name or invite me,” Eminem reportedly said. He explained that he could understand losing an award to globally respected artists like Kanye West or Kendrick Lamar, but found it “funny” and questionable when awards go to artists with little fan base or public recognition.
“If I lose to Kanye or Kendrick, I can understand. But losing to people you know have no fans or aren’t famous is funny. So who voted for them?” he questioned.
Eminem also referenced fellow rap superstar Nicki Minaj, pointing out that despite her massive influence and success, she has never won a Grammy. He questioned how any current female rapper could be ranked above her.
“Nicki Minaj has no Grammys. Which female rapper is better than her? No one,” he added.
The rapper concluded by making it clear that his decision is final, declaring that he will never attend the Grammy Awards again. He went on to label the institution as “dirty,” “useless,” and a “personal business.”
Eminem’s comments have reignited long-standing debates about transparency, credibility, and fairness in major music award shows, especially the Grammys, which have faced similar criticisms from several top artists over the years.
