Following the collapse of the Asaba-Ase wooden bridge, which connects Uzere in Isoko South to Asaba-Ase in Ndokwa East, the Delta State Government has initiated immediate steps to address the situation.
The bridge, which gave way under pressure, is set to undergo repairs as part of the government’s commitment to restoring critical infrastructure.
On Monday, the Commissioner for Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Mr. Charles Aniagwu, visited the site to assess the extent of the damage, emphasizing the state’s dedication to reconnecting the affected communities. Mr. Aniagwu reiterated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s resolve to ensure the swift restoration of this vital link.
Additionally, Mr. Aniagwu, accompanied by the Commissioner for Lands, Mr. Emamusi Obiodeh, inspected other ongoing road projects in Isoko North and South. These include the second phase of the Emevor-Orogun road and the 5.7km Igbide-Olomoro road, which has been a significant issue for residents.
The state’s proactive approach aims to ensure timely completion of these essential infrastructure projects.
