The National Chairman, All Progressive Grand Alliance ( APGA) Hon Sly Ezeokenwa Esq, has shown affection to vulnerable children living with sickle cell disorder,
While he call on political chieftains and policy makers on how to treat the downtrodden in their midst.
Barr Sly Ezeokenwa who was accompanied by his amiable wife and aides, was at the sickle cell orphanage and underprivileged home Agulu, to encourage the children-residents and strengthen their hope amidst the debilitating health challenges.
He noted that It's not frequently an occurrence to see political chieftains visiting the underprivileged to commiserate or identify with their plights in a non-election season, so having the audience of a high ranking political figure as the National Chairman of APGA, speaks volumes of his personality and inclination towards the betterment of others.
In his words, “ I will ensure that more searchlight is beamed on the menace of sickle cell disorder with the aim of total eradication, also know that you are not the architects of your health problems, God's willing, we would continue to support you wherever it is necessary.”
“From today onward, I now take you all as my children and I hope you will see me as a father figure,” Barr Ezeokenwa asked the children, to which they thundered a resounding YES!
Barr Sly Ezeokenwa who was instrumental to the accent of the Anambra State sickle cell law in 2019, had been a friend and staunch supporter, also revealed that he has been following up with the activities of the organization on social media.
Receiving the august visitor, his wife and entourage, national coordinator of Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder( APLSCD) Mrs Aisha Edward Maduagwu, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Barr Sly Ezeokenwa, whom she described as an ally.
Aisha Edward also used the occasion to extol the season of economic possibilities under the Soludo administration, while thanking the APGA party for effectively electing a political prodigy like Barr Ezeokenwa as it's chairman. The national coordinator of APLSCD also showered commendations upon the wife of Barr Ezeokenwa, for standing tall alongside her husband and giving him all the emotional and moral support that he needs to succeed in office.
A party faithful and councilor for Agulu ward 2 and state executive member, Barr Ugoo Ibeneme, who is an ardent supporter of the sickle cell orphanage and underprivileged home, was also present to receive the national chairman in Agulu.
The APGA National Chairman later made some financial donations to the home to support the educational attainments of the children-residents.
