The Distinguished Senator Barrister Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi Representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District has felicitated the good people of Ngbo Clan on the occasion of Istukwe New Yam festival
This was contained in a statement signed and issued by Senator Nwebonyi, he described Istukwe New Yam festival as a symbol of festival of love, unity, peace and charity
He explained that Istukwe New Yam Festival is an ancient tradition which was handed down to Ngbo Clan from their progenitors.
He said;
"May I, on behalf of my lovely wife and constituents convey my best wishes and felicitations to my dear brothers and sisters from Ngbo clan on the occasion of this year’s Istukwe New Yam Festival holding on August 8, 2023."
"Significantly, the Istukwe New Yam Festival marks the end of farming season and ushers in the beginning of bumper harvest. It signals the beginning of new calendar year among the Ngbo Ejeogu people.
"The new yam which is the king of all crops are only harvested after the Istukwe festival"
"It’s against this background, that I heartily felicitate you on this auspicious occasion of celebrating a very important cultural festival of love and peace."
Senator Nwebonyi therefore, urge Ngbo Ejeogu people to use the occasion of the ancient cultural festival to preach peace, love, unity and cohesion among them and Ebonyi state at large.
"As a Senator representing you at the upper Legislative Chamber of the National Assembly, I pledge to sponsor bills that will impact positively on your lives and to attract the dividends of democracy to you all"
"Accept the assurances of my esteemed regards and best wishes" he said.
