The Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North, Engr Chris Obiorah has applied to the people of Nnewi to make appropriate use of new receptacle at waste disposal locations.
Obiorah made this call while going around inspecting the evacuation of refuse dumps in Nnewi.
The TC Chairman promised to make the exercise a routine, stressing that there is no going back in his efforts to maintain a clean and healthy environment in Nnewi .
He highlighted that some receptacle has been made available in some areas like Ibeto juntion, Maria Regina axis, Anglican Girls junction and many others, to ensure that there is proper disposal of garbage in Nnewi.
The TC Boss who further went inside the markets to sensitized market women on waste management, cautioned against dumping of waste inside drainages.
Obiorah further commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his efforts in making the state a model of cleanliness in the country.
He finally called on the people of Anambra state to join hands with the sate government by contributing their own effort to maintaining a clean and healthy environment
In his remark an environmental health worker Mr Emeka Orizu said that this is first in the history of Nnewi were a Local Government chairman will be going round the community in making sure that there is a healthy environment.
Mrs Amaka Ukatu a market woman who spoke to press expressed their joy that God has use Engr Chris Obiorah to restore back the sanity of Nnewi.
