The Chairman of Izzi local government area of Ebonyi state, Mr. Stephen Nwankpa Emenike, a kinsman of the All Progressives Congress, APC's governor-elect, Francis Nwifuru has tasked government to end the rise in the fleeing of Doctors and Nurses to overseas.
Nwankpa however, urged the incoming administration led by Francis Nwifuru to to restructure to the health and education sectors as he takes over governance from David Umahi.
He made this known while speaking with newsmen shortly after commissioning of numerous projects built by governor David Umahi in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi state.
According to him: "The areas I want the incoming administration led by the governor-elect, Francis Nwifuru to focus, is on the area of Health and education. These are a critical sector that drives the prosperity of every state and it deserves to be giving serious attention.
"Education has nothing to do with gigantic buildings, it has to do with a quality of man power in there. Private sector has taken over everywhere. Education is now for sale to the highest bidder. So, we need to strengthen the public institutions.
"Health is becoming expensive, and I want the incoming administration to do something about it. I know that the governor-elect, Nwifuru will definitely do it because, he has given lots of scholarship to millions of people, who can now access education" he stated
The Council Chairman, Nwankpa also applauded the out going governor of Ebonyi state, David, Umahi for the numerous empowerment and infrastructural development that changed the ugly narrative of the state since it's creation in 1996.
"Governor David Umahi changed Ebonyi state that is formerly known as the dust of the nation to a viable state, where friends from far and near comes now to spend their holiday. He brought infrastructural development into the state and the state is now in the world map. The infrastructures has opened ways for viable economic prosperity for the state.
"Ebonyi state is now opened for investors to come and invest. He (Umahi) has connected the state to the centre and Ebonyi can now enjoy political all inclusiveness. we now have the most beautiful and viable airport with the best facilities.
"The governor built ecumenical centre that can accommodate ten thousand worshippers, ring roads that cut across 8 LGAs, king David medical center and shopping Mall. We call on our people who are investing in overseas to come home and invest in Ebonyi state.
"People said that the administration of governor David Umahi did not share money but they forgot the numerous empowerment ranging from one million naira and many others that the governor did, to allieviate poverty in the state. He cutdown the cost of governance and that's why you don't see commissioners or other government officials throwing parties in hotels.
"Cost of governance in the ministries, commissions and even in the local government areas has been cutdown by seventy (70) percent, that's why local government areas no longer live in the luxury, that It's used to in the past. I think we are getting it right" he stressed.
