Nollywood actor Uche Odoputa has shared a p@inful family experience tied to insecurity in the South-East.
According to the actor, his father, Mr Kenneth Odoputa, traveled to the Eastern region in May 2022 to see a longtime friend. What was supposed to be a short visit ended in tragedy.
Odoputa explained that both his father and his father's friend were taken by armed men during that period when abdúction cases were high in the area. For weeks, the families had no information on their whereabouts.
The family was later contacted and asked to pay money for their release. They did, hoping it would bring him home safely.
Unfortunately, Mr Odoputa did not survive the incident. The actor shared that the family received news of his d£@th after the payment had been made.
He described the loss as a heavy blow to the family, especially for his mother, and said the experience left a deep mark.
He opened his video with the line, "May Nigeria never happen to you."
In a follow-up, he announced that the family will hold a funeral in a few weeks with an empty casket to honour his father. According to him, "We have no body to lay to rest, but we have his life to remember, his dignity to honour, our love to express."
