She argues that society places too much responsibility on wives while overlooking men’s duties, insisting that respect and submission should not be demanded from every woman simply because someone is a man.
"Okay, so I'm officially tired of seeing content about—okay, I don't know if it's men making women h@te men or the internet making women h@te men at this point.
Because tell me why I just saw a video about a man talking about how, in his 80s, his wife shouldn't be going away for three years for Omugwo because, you know, at that age, his wife becomes his nurse and his mother.
And I actually just have one question because I'm becoming a nuisance in comment sections: How old is this wife? Does she not need a mother and a nurse as well?
Every day, you see content online advising wives: "This is what a wife is supposed to be. This is what a wife is supposed to be." I don't see the same energy being passed on to men.
I haven't seen people sit around at a podcast and say, "This is why men need to..." I see "wives, wives, wives." Is marriage the place where women's dreams go to d!£, or where they become slaves just because they're married?
I don't know about you guys, but sorry to the ones who are unmarried. Are you not tired of seeing content like this?
And another thing to the men who keep saying, "Women should just respect them regardless because they're men," or whatever the situation is. I've watched a couple of podcasts that have pissed me off lately.
Some clips I've seen online are like, because this person is a man, you're supposed to respect the person because the person is a man, right?
So basically, this young man was saying how he doesn't care if it's a woman versus a man. The woman should respect the man. So that's the context, right?
And what annoys me about that is even the whole argument about submission and all. God never said we should submit to everybody else's husband. He said, "Submit to your own husband."
So, for crying out loud, I'm a man. Talk to me like I'm a man. I'm a man, bro. Go home.
Because you can't be expecting every woman to submit to you outside. Go home and get your submission. Please, don't stress. Respect yourself.
Please and please, respect yourself. Respect yourself. Don't look for my trouble, please. I'm doing my best. I'm trying to stay respectful, but go home, boo."
~ Nigerian media personality Kiki Osinbajo criticises growing online trend of content telling women how they should behave in marriage while seemingly placing less emphasis on the responsibilities of men.
