The rider claims he was left stranded after refusing to carry an oversized Ghana-Must-Go bag, alleging that InDrive’s six-hour suspension policy for cancelled rides left him at the mercy of the customer.
"Hello, my fellow Nigerians. When we say InDrive is bad and should be stopped, it is not because we hate the platform, but because of the w!ck_dness of some customers.
I came here around 1 p.m. to pick up this item. Before coming, I called the customer and asked what I was coming to pick up. They told me it was a uniform, so I asked if it was something that could fit into my bag. They said yes, only for me to arrive and discover that it was the biggest size of a Ghana-Must-Go bag.
I politely told them I could not carry the item and asked them to cancel the ride. They agreed, but they have refused to cancel it since 1 p.m. It is now almost 2:30 p.m.
They know that if I cancel the ride myself, InDrive will block me for six hours. I have been begging this customer for almost two hours, but they have refused to cancel the job.
I had to park somewhere and wait, knowing they would probably order another rider. Eventually, I saw another rider coming to the same location, and the customer tried to give that rider the same item.
If InDrive had not introduced the policy of blocking riders for six hours for cancelling a job, would I not have cancelled it myself and gone my way? Instead, I have been left at the mercy of the customer.
After refusing to cancel the ride for almost two hours, they went on another app to order a different rider to carry the same item. Is this not an overload? Just look at the size of this Ghana-Must-Go bag. It cannot even fit into my rider's box.
When riders complain, people say riders are this and that. Meanwhile, I have wasted fuel and spent almost two hours begging the customer to cancel the job.
Now they are closing their gate because they know what they have done is wrong.
InDrive is enslaving riders just to please customers. Imagine having to beg someone for two hours over a job you have already explained you cannot do.
We can do better, Nigerians. Is it compulsory for me to carry an item I have explained is too big? I asked them to cancel the job, but they refused, knowing that I would be blocked for six hours if I cancelled it myself."
