Rita Andem was reportedly found dead in her apartment in Sangotedo, Lagos. Claims that prolonged exposure to mould in her fridge may have contributed to her death have sparked concern about the dangers of neglecting fridge hygiene.
The lady you see on this photo was just found d€ad in her apartment at number 44 Abdulrahman Aburomowe close, off Akpaka Francis Lane, Sangotedo, Eti-Osa, Lagos State.
Exactly as shown here with eyes open and rolled.
Her name is Rita Andem. An indigene of Cross River state and a former broadcaster with AIT.
Cause of her death is long term exposure to mould poisoning in her fridge.
I was called on emergency because her family thought it was a spiritual attack, but on reaching here around 10pm, I detected heavy fungal spore deposits in the air.
Without delay, I had to arrange a medical team to investigate closer before the body was moved to the mortuary.
We discovered her fridge interior looking this way and we were able to establish what happened.
This lady's fridge had never been cleaned since she bought it in 2019 according to her husband.
They thought it was normal for the inside of a Fridge to look like this.
The man gripped my shoulders tightly, and with tears in his eyes whispered:
'Ivan The Machine, are you saying that my wife's death was totally avoidable?'
I touched his elbows gently and nodded.
But it was what he said next that threw me completely off balance.
'Ivan, we've lost 3 children in this house since 2021. Same symptoms as the mother. We all thought they were spiritual attacks. Ivan.... I am not sure I can keep on Iiving. Our surviving child currently has a weak liver and chronic pneumonia. How could God allow this happen to us?'
People.... I'm speechless.
If you stay around Sangotedo and wish to come and pay your last respects to this good lady, please come to the address given above.
For the ones who cannot make it, please pay attention to this post and share it.
Your fridge can lead to your death.
A dirty fridge with mould on the door like this will poison and contaminate everything you put in it.
Bread, tomatoes, pepper, pineapples, watermelon, cooked food.... name it.
Fungi thrives well in both cold, wet and warm, so the cool environment of your fridge is welcoming for it.
Especially the brief periods there is power outage for up to 24 hours upwards.
Consuming food from a fridge that looks like this can collapse your liver slowly in the space of 7 months.
So please check your fridge and freezer now and do something about the mould and gunk building up on the door rim.
Use a toothbrush, dip it in hydrogen peroxide mixed with some baking soda and gently rub the suction rim of your fridge door edge, as well as everywhere else you see dirt like this.
Leave it to sit for a while and wipe it off with a clean cloth.
Please share this until every Nigerian sees it.
Your fridge can return you to your ancestors.
May her soul rest in peace.
