Further reports allege that Prof. Odinye did not demand sex for grades, while the university investigates claims of a planned attack and possible wider conspiracy.

Consequently, the WhatsApp message currently in circulation should be disregarded, as it did not originate from him, his family, or any authorised representative.
2. Prof. Odinye is known within the university community as a strict lecturer and is reportedly unpopular with some students and lecturers.
3. According to an alleged account attributed to the student involved, she reportedly stated that the incident was not a case of the lecturer demanding s*x, but rather a planned attack intended to humiliate him.
4. The individuals who allegedly assaulted him were not students of UNIZIK but touts allegedly hired by the female student and members of an alleged syndicate.
5. Prof. Odinye has not previously been known within the university community to be involved in any alleged “s*x-for-grades” incident. The accusation has therefore come as a shock to many, while the university is reportedly continuing its efforts to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
