Gen. Yakubu Gowon waited until almost everyone involved in the Nigerian Civil War had passed away before finally releasing his own version of events.
The painful part is that the dead cannot speak anymore.
They cannot challenge his claims, grant interviews, defend themselves, or point out where facts may have been twisted or hidden.
So the question many Nigerians may ask is simple:
Is this truly about national healing and concern for Nigerians…
or simply about protecting and shaping a personal legacy?
