Panic turned to praise in Bertoua after Song Bosco bravely descended into a deep well and emerged 45 minutes later with a child alive, earning instant hero status from villagers.
Something crazy just happened in Bertoua! A child fell into a 37-meter deep well this afternoon. The child started shouting for help as they fell in.
The mother alerted people in the neighborhood that her child had fallen into the deep well, so people gathered, but no one had the courage to go in because the well is so deep you can't even see the bottom.
Fortunately, a man named Song Bosco came and entered the well, going all the way down.
After 30 minutes, people couldn't hear anything, and they started to think that maybe a demon had taken the man and the child.
But then, after about 45 minutes, they saw the man's hand as he climbed back up with the child. The villagers immediately declared him a hero.
The child's mother promised Bosco some "raw material" (likely meaning compensation or reward) because he saved her child's life.
