Tensi0n as Burkina Faso detains Nigerian aircraft and some soldiers ,after they B0mbed Benin.
The government of Burkina Faso has announced that an aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force — carrying 11 Nigerian soldiers — violated its airspace and was forced to land in Bobo Dioulasso on Monday.
According to a statement signed by Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traore , the plane reportedly experienced an “in-flight emergency” but had no authorization to enter Burkinabe airspace.
The aircraft has been detained, and all 11 Nigerian military personnel are currently being held as investigations continue. The Alliance of Sahel States (AES) — which includes Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger — has condemned the incident as a breach of its sovereignty and placed its air defense forces on maximum alert.
As of now, the Nigerian Federal Government (or NAF) has not issued a public response or explanation for the breach.
