In a surprising social media statement, Senator Ned Nwoko has publicly responded to what he describes as false claims made by his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, concerning the circumstances of their marriage.
According to the Delta State–born politician, Regina has been circulating stories suggesting that he married her when she was just 17 years old — a claim he firmly denies.
“It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue and misleading,” the senator wrote.
Nwoko went on to clarify that at the time of their first meeting, Regina had told him she was 21 years old. He stated that he asked for proof and was shown her INEC voter’s card, which reportedly listed her date of birth as October 10, 1998.
“I informed her that I would keep this document in my possession, and I have done so since that day,” he added.
The senator also referenced a BBC interview granted by Regina’s mother shortly after their marriage, where, according to him, her statements aligned with the same age record.
He emphasized that their marriage took place six years ago, which would make Regina 27 years old today — not 23, as some online claims suggest.
“Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public. The facts are verifiable and indisputable,” he stated.
In closing, Nwoko urged the public to be cautious about Regina’s current statements, alleging that her mental and emotional condition may be compromised due to an unfinished rehabilitation process from drug addiction.
“Until this is done, I urge the public to approach all her claims with caution and discernment,” he concluded.
The senator’s statement has since sparked mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics weighing in on both sides of the controversy. While some commend him for clarifying the issue, others have called for Regina to publicly respond to his claims.
As of now, Regina Daniels has not issued any official reaction to the senator’s remarks.
