New details have emerged regarding the recent arrest of VDM. Sources allege that the EFCC invited him for questioning six times, with his lawyer fully aware.
Some of these invites were reportedly sent via WhatsApp, but VDM allegedly blocked the numbers almost immediately. The most recent invitation was sent to his official email.Interestingly, it wasn’t the EFCC who made the arrest, it was the DSS. VDM was picked up last Friday, and only after that did the EFCC request custody, stating they also have an ongoing case involving him.
One of the key issues with the EFCC relates to a woman currently facing money laundering charges. Security agencies have allegedly tracked conversations and transactions between VDM and this woman, backed by intercepted phone calls. The EFCC’s focus remains strictly on financial investigations.
It’s also worth mentioning that VDM has publicly called out the EFCC in the past, claiming to have evidence against them and daring them to invite or arrest him. He even submitted some of this material to the agency.
However, the DSS angle appears to be the most serious. According to credible sources, VDM's phone has been under surveillance for a while, and the DSS claims to have gathered enough evidence to justify his arrest.
