Eniola Badmus Has Never Seen Me Live Yet Gaslighting Me With An Apology After Making That Insensitive Comment On My Post" - Opeyemi Aiyeola Addresses Feud with Eniola Badmus on Instagram Live, Urges Fans Not to Fuel the Drama
Nollywood veteran actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has taken to Instagram Live to further address the ongoing tension with fellow actress Eniola Badmus. In her candid session, Aiyeola clarified her stance and called on fans not to escalate the situation on her behalf.
The controversy began after Badmus publicly commented on Aiyeola’s hair loss, asking, “Ope, where is your front hair?” Aiyeola, perceiving the remark as inappropriate, responded with criticism, referencing Badmus’ own experiences with body-shaming to highlight the insensitivity of the comment.
During her live session on Friday, Aiyeola made it clear that her video was not a response to Badmus’ apology, which she had already deleted. She described the apology as insincere and likened it to gaslighting.
“I’m not doing this live because of Eniola Badmus’ apology,” Aiyeola explained. “I saw her comment on the video—yes, the one that triggered all this—and I deleted it because it just didn’t sit right with me. Her so-called apology felt more like gaslighting. It didn’t feel genuine. You can’t hurt me and then try to dictate how I should react.”
She emphasized that her frustration was less about the comment itself and more about the context and platform on which it was made.
According to Aiyeola, she and Badmus are not close, nor have they ever had a personal relationship that would justify such public “banter.”
“We’ve known each other for over 20 years, but we’ve never shared that kind of friendship,” she said. “We’re not banter mates. We’ve never had that kind of rapport. It’s always been just ‘hello, how are you?’
We’ve never sat down to gist or even shared a conversation at the same table. We’re not enemies, but we’re definitely not that kind of friend.”
