From TOE's pioneering tenure to Oliver's current leadership, three brothers have shaped UBA's success story.
Tony O. Elumelu recently shared an inspiring post on Facebook, highlighting the legacy of leadership within United Bank for Africa (UBA) across three generations of Group Managing Directors (GMDs) from his family. The journey began with Elumelu himself, affectionately known as "TOE," who served as UBA's first GMD from 2005 to 2010, laying the groundwork for the bank’s transformation.
Following Tony's tenure, his immediate brother, KU, took over as GMD in 2016, continuing to lead UBA with a focus on growth and innovation until 2022. The youngest brother, Oliver, assumed the GMD position in 2022 and currently guides the bank through a dynamic era of change.
This three-brother legacy has not only strengthened UBA’s position in African banking but also reflects the family’s enduring commitment to excellence. Elumelu’s post with the hashtag #TOEWay celebrates the shared vision that has made UBA a leading financial institution today.
