Nigerian actress Kate Henshaw criticizes the federal order to revert to the old national anthem amidst severe hardship and lack of basic amenities. In a pointed statement, she highlights the irony of expecting an outdated anthem to boost patriotism while governance fails at every level.
She wrote: “In the midst of excoriating hardship & lack of good governance on every level but not to worry going back to a colonial anthem will be a soothing balm and inject patriotism back into our veins, a much needed drúg. The labour of our heroes past… O ti lo”
