The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South East) Barr. Mrs Chioma Nweze has Congratulated new Senator-elect, Professor Anthony Ani on his sweeping victory in the Ebonyi South Senatorial District bye-election, of 3rd February, 2024 .
In a press statement signed by SSA to the President on Community Engagement South East, Barr Mrs Chioma Nweze, noted that Prof Anthony Ani victory is for democracy and triumph of the time-honoured value of equality and fairness espoused by all stakeholders which guarantees that every segment of the zone must at all times be given a sense of belonging in governance.
Her statement reads in part;
"I write to extend my congratulations to our new Senator-elect, Professor Anthony Ani on your sweeping victory in the just concluded Ebonyi South Senatorial District bye-election, which signalled his journey into the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly.
"Yours is a victory for democracy and triumph of the time-honoured value of equality and fairness espoused by all stakeholders which guarantees that every segment of the zone must at all times be given a sense of belonging in governance.
"As you set forth on your legislative endeavours in the next four years and offer up yourself for service, I wish you utmost success, confident that your emergence which came on the back of the goodwill of your constituents, will herald the needed sustainable development and prosperity across the length and breadth of Ebonyi South zone.
"I wish to respectfully salute the Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, the Hon. Minister of Works, His Excellency Engr. Chief David Umahi FNSE FNATE, CON, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders for their invaluable roles in the peaceful conduct of the polls and for providing a level playing field for all contestants on the ballot.
"It is not uncommon that elections do bring dissatisfaction and grievances even in advanced democracies. On this note, I wish to emphasize that nothing supercedes peace, unity and love, and therefore appeal to you to extend an olive branch to all contenders across the divide to move the zone forward as there is strength in unity, while I call on your opponents to rally round you to advance our collective fortunes
"Your victory embodies the spirit of the people and we are confident that you will serve our district with utmost diligence, hardwork and integrity.
"I wish to join your teeming well wishers in praying to Almighty God to grant you more wisdom and sound health as you take up this onerous task." Nweze stated.
