The Hon. Minister of Works, Sen. Engr Nweze David Umahi, has been proven to be a genius on road infrastructure development, as he set to steady road map towards making Nigeria 'the best country in road infrastructure in African continent' in line with Mr President's vision.
Special Adviser on Media to Minister Of Works Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
According to him, "President Bola Ahmed Tinubu means business ,He is from the private sector, he is an accomplished administrator and builder of human capital, and as President of Nigeria, he has already set the ball rolling in his plan to recover the economy in an enduring manner"
The road infrastructure which at the centre stage are;
- He is working to fix 260 across Nigeria as part of the Palliatives, the interventions of Mr. President
- He is working to fix at least 150 Km roads per State, including FCT this 2024.
- He is working to set up a technical framework for benchmarking project delivery.
- Out of 200,000 km national road network, he is drawing a long-term master plan on tackling 35,000 km Federal Government roads and more to be developed in the future.
He is introducing innovative strategies for the implementation of funding strategies for Special Projects, including:
1. SUKUK Bond Funding
2. Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund ( PIDF).
3.Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme
4. Highway Development and Management Initiative ( HDMI).
- He is bringing local content and efficiency in road construction management.
He noted that Sen. Umahi will make Mr. President proud. He will make Nigerians proud. "Did you hear of complaints about road blockage and impassable roads during the Xmas and New Year seasons? He will do more." Orji said.
