Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has promise to make Ebonyi people proud, while reassuring that his administration will achieve all promise made in line with the peoples charter of needs
The governor disclosed this on Saturday, during a media chat/ account stewardship of Exco members held in Abakaliki as part of activities to mark Nigeria's 63rd independence celebration and 27 years of the state's creation
During the event, governor Nwifuru permit his executive council members to revealed all their achievement made so far within 100 days on his administration.
Governor Nwifuru noted that in line with his campaign promises made to Ebonyians that he has ensure that there is peace, unity and progress in all the 171 communities in the state as a way to avert wars in the state.
Governor, said, he will allow critics to engage his administration with constructive criticism.
He, therefore, Commends Ebonyi People for their support towards voted him massively becoming governor of the state
He said, “You made it possible through your unanimous vote for us, believing in our agenda, our mantra – The People’s Charter of Needs, meant to consolidate on the beautiful achievements of the previous administration.
“We have since then started work. We are 152 days in office as the drivers of policies that suit your needs and strategists for implementing the same. We began by calling on the services of a mix of trusted professionals and bureaucrats from among us, to serve you in various capacities.
“We have engaged in a blend of actions to serve the current needs of Ebonyi people while setting foundations for the future. As a Government, we understand that our eyes must be beamed in securing the future of our children, as well as satisfying your immediate needs.
“It is our collective responsibility to ensure that together, we deliver good dividends of democracy to our people and take Ebonyi to the success stage. I call on all of you, to feel free and engage us constructively, knowing fully well that we are here to serve you. “Our goal is to bequeath peace and success to Ebonyi citizens” he stated.
Meanwhile some Commissioners disclosed the achievement made so far under Governor's Nwifuru administrations
Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state Dr Ben Odoh noted that under administration of Governor, that ministry of justice has justice system that reconcile the offenders and justice system that restored society in crisis situation and among others
According to AG, stated we visited Nigerian custodian center , " When we decided to visited the Nigerian custodian center in correctional services in Abakaliki and Afikpo, found out many prisoners are congested inside cell , about 126 inmate in one cell and out of 1336 inmates in Abakaliki cell, after investigation , we discovered some are contagious with diseases and mentally sick, we directed they to take them to hospital and as a matter of urgency decongested some inmate who are not suppose to be there to be released, and those who are suppose to be there are remained"
"Some inmate who case file are not court, we order for the case file be provide.
"And Section 200(11) give the Attorney General power to institute, continue and discontinued a case in court or taken any criminal cases before judgment given.
Odoh noted that the ministry of justice , has provide Ebonyi Ministry of Citizens Mediator center for those who can not afford pay money or legal services for court litigation, for them to solve there matters free of charge, and also established multi -purpose court house for business men who do not want to go court will come to resolve there financial issues in there through mediation, negotiations, arbitration and reconciliation.
And we created department of legal researchs, ICT, law report, they are responsible for documentation of ministry of justice, very soon,we will have Ebonyi State law report, that will contain judgment of the court and others, so that those outside Ebonyi jurisdiction will use it research and produce there own jurisprudence
Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Prof. Omari Omaka, said the education sector has improved under administration of Governor Nwifuru, adding that tertially institutions in the state were doing excellently well.
“His Excellency the Governor, being aware of the challenges we were having in our own state University, EBSU, such that payment of salaries was a big problem. But within one month in office, the Governor graciously increased the monthly subvention of Ebonyi State University from N150 million to N200 million.
The Governor also gave approval for additional N300 million for the settlement of other outstanding debts in the university.
“The Governor has also increased the monthly subvention of Ebonyi State College of Education from 50 million to 60 Million, among others”
Head of Service of Ebonyi State, Rita Okoro, who explained that the 195 medical personnel were successful applicants from the recent recruitment organized by the State goverment.
She added that another 1,454 persons have also been recruited and added into the state civil service.
She emphasized that these achievements were recorded within the first three months in office of Chief Francis Nwifuru’s administration.
Commissioner for Human capital Development, Mrs. Ann Aligwe, noted that her Ministry was already in possession of N3 billion as approved by the Governor for the empowerment of Ebonyi youths hawking across the country.
She added that the disbursement to beneficiaries will soon commence
She also announced that her Ministry has attracted three IDP centres, to be built across the three senatorial zones of the state, where victims of natural disasters and communal violence will be kept and cared for .
