The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and other affiliate Unions in Ebonyi State on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest, while they lamented over removal of fuel subsidy which has affected the cost of living in the country.
The Chairman of NLC in the State, Comrade Ogugua Egwu and his TUC counterpart,
who said that the peaceful protests as a result against anti-people policy of the Federal Government led by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
The peaceful protest was commenced from Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium.
The workers carried placards with several inscriptions, such as ‘Let the Poor Breathe’, ‘Stop Anti-people Policies’, and ‘Nigerian Workers are Suffering’, among others inscriptions.
In his address, the Chairman of NLC, Comrade Egwu Ogugua said they were on ground to demonstrate their displeasure over the anti-people policies of the Federal Government.
He said: “We say no to excess hikes in fuel subsidy that has skyrocketed the cost of living.
“We need to move let our voices be heard, let them stop putting their knees on our neck, let them stop intimidating and oppressing us.
“Nigerian people, Nigerian workers, we must breath. We must shine, we need to shine, we need to move”. He said.
