The Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, Hon. Barr Sunday Nwankwo has Promised to off-set medical hospital bill of a victim of trafficking, 19year-old Miss Favour Onwe, from Item Amagu, Ikwo Local Government Area, of the State, who was rescued by a good Samaritan in libya, North Africa.
Therefore, Miss Favour Onwe was diagnosed of VesicoVaginal Fistula (VVF) and admitted at the National Obstetric fistula Centre, Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Ebonyi State
LG Chairman disclosed this on Friday, when he paid a visit to a victim, he frowned over how girls migrate to other Countries in the search for Greener pastures where subjected to the various illegal businesses. He vowed to report the matter to the Mother of the State,Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Uzoamaka Mary- Maudline Nwifuru for further action.
Chairman Commended the Governor's wife state, Chief (Mrs) Mary Maudlin Uzoamaka Nwifuru for her efforts towards fighting against human trafficking and other related ills in the state, pledging his total commitment to join forces in the fight against the ugly menace in the state.
"This is unfortunate. We will continue to support the efforts of the Mother of the State, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Uzomaka Mary-Maudline Nwifuru in the campaign against Child Trafficking. It is a societal malaise that needs to be tackled headlong." he said.
