Chairman Joint national association of persons with disability JONAPWD, Anambra state chapter, Ugochukwu Ernest Okeke, has reaveal that there is ability in disability, which is why inclusion of persons with ability in all activities is very important.
Okeke, made the reaveal at the inaugural retreat of new executive members of JONAPWD, Anambra, held on 21 July , Awka.
He described JONAPWD as non profit and governmental organisation, which was established in Nigeria,1987 and Anambra, 2001, with the thematic areas which includes, accessibility, inclusion, job, creation awareness creation and sensitisation on disability issues, social empowerment among others.
Okeke, also disclosed the call objectives of JONAPWD, including, promotion of economic independent of persons with disabilities, sensitisation of the general public on the issues related to disability management, to ensure and advocate for proper education and vocational training for all persons with disabilities among others.
He further explained the essence of the retreat, " this retreat marks a significant milestone in our journey as disability leaders, it presents a wonderful opportunity for collaboration, learning and reflection, as we collectively strive to bring about positive change and inclusion for all individuals with disabilities".
"Throughout this valuable retreat today, we have the chance to harness our collective expertise and experiences towards generating innovation ideas, discovering new strategies and developing sustainable solutions", he said.
He charged the new executive members to see the office of which they are been elected as a clarion call for work ," all great leaders are shaped by challenges they face and the paths they choose, as a disability leaders we have been entrusted with the task of leading by example and ensuring that the voices of persons with disabilities are amplified".
