Two persons have been killed and a policeman injured in a renewed Communal land dispute between Ishinkwo and Abaomege communities in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent on Tuesday said a preliminary investigation confirmed that Abaomege warriors carried out the attack.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that the attack took place about 7 a.m. Tuesday.
She added that the Command had launched an intensive manhunt to arrest the fleeing Suspects.
She said: “Three persons including a Police Officer who was returning home after the close of work, were shot at the Abaomege- Oshinkwo Communal crises area by Oshinkwo Warriors.
“The victims were rushed to the hospital. Two of the victims were confirmed dead but the Policeman is responding to treatment.
“Intensive Manhunt is on for the fleeing Suspects.
"Ishinkwo and Abaomege communities have been enmeshed in an intractable land dispute that has claimed so many lives and property worth millions of naira destroyed.
"The dispute is often renewed once farming season sets in."
