The remains of the late Sir Francis Azubuike Ezewuzie, elder brother to the Chairman, Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Chukwuemeka Ezewuzie, has been laid to rest at his home town, Okpo Ekwulobia .
The deceased, who died in a car accident at the age of 66, was described as a father figure to all, loving, caring, kind, brave, hardworking and a peaceful man by family and friends.
Speaking during the sermon at St Anthony Catholic Church, Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, His Eminence, Peter Ebere Cardinal Okpaleke, who was represented by the chancellor of Ekwulobia Diocese, Rev. Fr Lawrence Nwankwo, said that God sees everything in a positive way, brings to the minds of Christians that there's a time to be born and a time to die.
Fr. Nwankwo further said that the deceased defended his faith in Christ, describing him as a disciplined man, compassionate and a father who supported the growth and development of the church.
He urged the family not to weep as people that have lost hope in God but to embrace peace at all times. He encouraged Christians to have personal relationships with Christ, work with Him and wait for His second coming. " We should live our lives as if the lord is coming now," he concluded.
Chairman, Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Chukwuemeka Ezewuzie expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life. He said, "my brother was like a father and a role model to his siblings. He was a great man in the church, a third degree Knight of St Mulumba.
"Accidentally, he was traveling to attend a meeting of the Knights of St Mulumba on 4th March, 2023, when they had a head-on collision with an on coming car trying to avoid a pot hole on the road and he died on the spot
"I miss him because he was my eyes, he went everywhere for me. I plead with the necessary authorities to fix up the potholes on our roads. My brother would be alive today but for that pothole that the on coming car was avoiding.
" Anambra State Governor, Prof Charles Soludo-led administration is doing well in terms of road construction and i trust that there is an office that will be in charge of fixing potholes in our roads both federal and state. There is need for them to be fixing our roads that has potholes to avoid losing another soul".
"Another lesson that i have learnt from the death of my brother is for us to know that in this life, death is eminent. Today is my brother's turn, tomorrow, we wouldn't know who it will be. I just learnt to live this life one day at a time. Let us do whatever we can to be nice to any and everybody we meet because it may be the last time you are speaking with the person", he said.
The first son of the deceased, Emeka Ezewuzie described his late father as a generous man that is loved by everybody because of his commitment towards adding value to people's lives. " He left a lot of legacies for us to hold on to. I miss our night discussions, his love towards me and his words of encouragement".
Grand Knight of Ekulobia Sub-council, John Nnbanugo, described the late Francis as a man of faith, who works towards his faith in Christ, hardworking, brave, courageous, kind and loving man.
He urged the children to follow the foot steps of their father and anchor their faith in God, who will help them to achieve greater things in life.
